Prout is looking for new members

“Prout is the PhD Network of Utrecht University, run by a group of enthusiastic voluntary PhD representatives from all graduate schools of the university.”

And they are looking for new members:

We are looking for new representatives of the faculties of Humanities, Geoscience, Veterinary science and Social sciences. We are also looking for PhD candidates that would like to take on the role of chair, secretary or treasurer. So if you would like to gain experience in organizing and learn about the nuts and bolts of the role of PhDs in the university, consider applying! Find below the descriptions of each role. Would you like to join our team, organize cool events and bring about change in the University? Just send an email to info@prout.nl and we will be welcoming you to the next Prout meeting after summer.

Prout: what do we do? Being part of the Prout board is a really fun and diverse position to be in. We organize everything from social to informative events and we are invited to weigh in on a range of strategy and policy topics from both the UMCU and UU. As a board member you get to pick the topics you like most and make the best out of it. As such, we have no portfolio positions, the strategy of Prout is chosen by the board and reflects the matters they deem most interesting and valuable to pursue. There are of course general tasks that need managing, therefore, our current board is organized in three positions. Below we will briefly say a bit about every position, in general being a board member requires 1-2 hours of work per week, but this fluctuates both up and down depending on the planned activities and meetings.

Chair (Jelmer Koorn): As a chair you are responsible for keeping an overview of the ongoing projects and activities. Therefore, you also lead the meetings with the representatives and take responsibility for the functioning of the board and organisation as a whole. You are also the first contact person for external, UU, and UMCU people. What is most fun about the position is that you get a taste of everything that is going on, you can pick the topics you are most interested in and meet with as many interesting people related to those topics as you like.

Treasurer (Ellen Deelen): As a treasurer you are responsible for the financial side of Prout. You are therefore responsible for the annual budget. A task which is quite straightforward and due to that you have the opportunity to contribute to organizing activities and/or work on policy matters if you want to.

Secretary (Özge Düdükcü): As secretary you keep the order within Prout and manage Prout membership  procedures. You are responsible for (background) communication channels: Email accounts, email aliases. Additionally, you are in charge of the website maintenance as well as the coordination  of the newsletter.
