Transferable Skills Workshop

As a PhD student, researcher or lecturer entering the labor market, it is important to have a good idea of your skills and to be able to communicate them to others. While we do a pretty good job at describing our academic and research skills, we aren’t always aware of the social, communication and practical skills that we develop during the course of our PhD or as a lecturer. We have or gain experience in writing thesis, applying for grants, organizing conferences, collaborating with other researchers etc, etc. In essence, we possess a range of skills that we can see as our ‘transferable skills’; skills that can be used in many different work situations, including outside of university. These are skills that can make you attractive in the job market.

In this workshop you will gain insight into the transferable skills you have through practical exercises. Also, you learn to present them in a clear way, for example by using good examples.

We hope you will join us for this event on Tuesday, October 19th from 12:30 to 14:30, we will announce the exact room later. For everyone who decides to join us in person we will provide a FREE lunch.

We do hope many of you will join! Please use the following link to register, you can sign up until Friday, October 15th https://www.formdesk.com/universiteitutrecht-geo/Transferableskills
